Natalia Myles, P.Eng. is the Structures Section Head with the City of Vancouver, where she leads the team responsible for the management, inspection, rehabilitation, and long-term stewardship of the City's bridge and structural infrastructure portfolio. In this role, she oversees asset management strategies, capital planning, risk management, and the delivery of programs that help ensure the safety, reliability, and resilience of critical transportation assets. Natalia brings more than 20 years of experience across structural consulting and municipal infrastructure management. Her consulting experience included the design, assessment, rehabilitation, and seismic upgrading of building structures, while her municipal career has focused on the stewardship of critical transportation and waterfront infrastructure, including bridges, retaining walls, seawalls, and shoreline protection structures. This combination of consulting and owner-side experience provides her with a unique perspective on the challenges of delivering, maintaining, and renewing infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. Since joining the City of Vancouver, Natalia has helped grow the Structures team and strengthen the City's capacity to deliver major infrastructure programs. Through collaborative engagement with senior leadership and funding partners, she has helped secure increased capital investment and external funding support for critical infrastructure renewal initiatives. She is a strong advocate for transparent, risk-informed decision-making and has championed an approach that brings senior leadership into infrastructure discussions early, fostering shared ownership of asset risks, priorities, and investment decisions across the organization. Natalia has led major infrastructure initiatives including the Cambie Bridge Seismic Upgrade and Rehabilitation Program, emergency response planning for the City's bridge network, and long-term preservation programs for iconic structures such as the Granville Bridge. She is always eager to connect with others in the industry and share candid perspectives on the realities of managing, maintaining, and renewing municipal infrastructure.
